Los Mirlos are the legendary Peruvian cumbia group who have been combining traditional Andean-Amazonian music with avant-garde psychedelia for 50+ years. Unthinkable, when they began in the early 70’s, that their music would entrance the cultural imagination of all Latin America during following decades, transcending and elevating the definition of cumbia to the world. The band was registered in Lima in 1973, but their true genesis took place in Moyobamba, the capital town from the region of the San Martin region, where the Peruvian Andes plateau gives way to the jungle. Los Mirlos are enjoying a global renaissance, reaching a young public eager to hear new nuances and classic sounds of psychedelic Amazonian cumbia.

Los Mirlos are visiting Miami Beach en route to the Coachella Festival. The opening set features DJ Richie Hell, the Miami-based Argentine producer whose signature sound has been deeply influenced by Los Mirlos’ psychedelic Latin rhythms.
