Voudou rock legends RAM are a mizik rasin (roots music) powerhouse Haitian band, who embody the joy and power of gede. The band is celebrating gede, a Haitian all-souls’-day holiday celebrated with ritual, drumming, singing, dancing and laughter. In RAM’s music, folkloric rhythms intertwine harmoniously with rock guitar riffs and Haitian kompa, rara, twoubadou, and vodou dance melodies, propelled by rara horns and percussion. Tafa Mi Soleil is a rising star in Haitian music, with a unique voice and a deep commitment to roots and culture, and human rights. In addition to her music, Mi-Soleil involved in theater, visual arts and fashion. The young singer was awarded “Best Female Artist of the Year” at the prestigious Haitian Music Awards in 2023.

Gede is Haiti’s festival of the ancestors – akin to Mexico’s Day of the Dead, or closer to home, Halloween. In Haiti, the holiday is celebrated with music, ritual, drumming, singing, dancing, drinking and laughter. This event is produced by Rhythm Foundation in partnership with Fondasyon Zaka and Djaiye.

Where do we park? arrow down

The municipal parking lot at 73rd Street and Collins Avenue is across the street from the Bandshell, and it is free (!) after 6pm. When it is full, look for street parking.

What if it rains? arrow down

The venue is an open air facility, covered by our new canopy. Shows are scheduled rain or shine.

Can we bring a picnic? arrow down

No outside food or drink inside the Bandshell, please. We have a fully-stocked bar, and we usually feature wonderful food vendors inside the venue. We also have a water refill station.
