The Miami Beach Senior High Rock Ensemble will be holding its annual 52nd Winter Concert on December 16th. This year we not only pay tribute to Doug with a performance from the Beach High Rock Ensemble but by also celebrating the releases of new music from some of Doug’s most prominent students, Ben Katzman and Sammy Gonzalez. Come join us for a night of tribute to the late Doug Burris, father of the rock ensemble and legendary educator of thousands over his 42-year teaching career. Ben Katzman has made a name for himself since graduating Beach High by launching BUFU records from his college dorm room as well as touring the world with some of indie musics most prominent acts for the last decade. This year he releases his newest album ‘Transcendental Shreditation’. The new LP, which features current Rock Ensemble guitarist Deo Budnevitch, is a 7-song album filled with epic guitars, arena rock gang shouts, and mantra’s rooted in staying true to yourself! Sammy Gonzalez who is known for taking over the Rock Ensemble and spearheading the Nonprofit ‘Young Musicians Unite’ has found his creative outlet in a new solo outfit named ‘Magic Tusk’. Morphing elements of prog rock, psych, and Latin influences to create a brand-new musical experience.

Where do we park?
The municipal parking lot at 73rd Street and Collins Avenue is across the street from the Bandshell, and it is free (!) after 6pm. When it is full, look for street parking.
What if it rains?
The venue is an open air facility, covered by our new canopy. Shows are scheduled rain or shine.
Can we bring a picnic?
No outside food or drink inside the Bandshell, please. We have a fully-stocked bar, and we usually feature wonderful food vendors inside the venue. We also have a water refill station.
